Someone keeping watch o'er the Valley

If you’ve ever been to Maine in the winter time, it has no doubt been one of the many ski areas which you have called upon(what other reason would you subject yourself to the frigid tundra).  For many that very ski area is Sunday River.  But, there has been something brewing up in them there hills for a little while now, and she is finally complete.

She’s been named Olympia Snowe-Woman, to honor a senator from our fair state who has served us for many years.

So, if you’re up this ‘away, drop in our world record setting girl, before the sunshine and spring(HA!) take her away.

Ahh...The First Snow

There is something about the first snow that sends Mainers into a tizzy.  Drivers completely forget the previous winter and drive like they have never seen it before in their lives.  Kids completely freak out and are impossible to reign back in.  I spent some of the day at school, mostly fulfilling some PTO duties, but I also stopped into Busy Bee's class for some much needed Kindergarten sweetness.

There was no sweetness to be found today, instead, it was full blown hysteria.  The last time they called for snow, we didn't even see a flake, so none of the kids were prepared to go outside for recess.  Picture, if you will, 15 five-year-olds, who really just want to be OUTSIDE!!!!!!!

I could see the teacher fumbling to find something-anything to keep them occupied for the last few hours of the day, so I ordered pizza and we had a party.  They weren't going to get anything done anyway, so what the heck.

You better believe though, when my kids got off the bus, I didn't see them again until it was dark out.  Well, I wanted to play with them, but they chased me back in the house with snow-balls.
