Last week I met a friend at Barnes and Noble for a playdate. Sounds weird, but my kids love the train table in the kids section, and yes we do have a train table at home. There's just something about that train table that has had thousands of kids playing with it and probably never been cleaned. Since my older son was in preschool, my younger son (YS) and I joined my friend and her son. The boys played, and my friend and I got to drink coffee and catch up.
When it was time to leave, I decided to swing by the video section to see if I could find a movie whose name I didn't know but that I had seen advertised. Basically the ad comes on TV, our dog growls (as he often does while watching TV if he sees another animal or any of a number of advertisements for products that he deems threatening to our living room), I look up and see cute puppies running through snow, leading me to think that since the boys love dog movies, this one would make a great gift for Valentine's Day even though we normally don't do gifts for it.
Armed with this info I headed into the video section and immediately saw Snow Buddies. I grabbed it and went up to the counter to pay for it. Sitting on the counter was a DVD called Worcester Love. It looked so hilarious from the name alone that I just had to read the back. Basically it's a movie (multi-volume) that highlights different aspects of Worcester, particularly locally-owned businesses, diversity in Worcester, and environmentalism in Worcester. Although I somehow resisted the urge to actually buy a copy, I later checked out the website where I got to preview some of the footage on-line. The website also cracked me up. Apparently Worcester Love is actually an internet video guide that aims to tell people all about Worcester in a light hearted funny way. Did I mention that it cracks me up? The hosts are two famous people. How do I know that they are famous? Well, the website told me so. I actually hadn't heard of them but then again I didn't know the name for Snow Buddies.
If you're looking to learn more about Worcester, check it out. As their website says, you can order it for someone and "Give the Gift of Love."
Ha! I lived in Worcester for three years (my husband grew up in Oxford). We lived in a second floor apartment on the side of a big hill, and we had a covered porch off the back with a sweeping view of the downtown. So my slogan each night as I headed out there for a smoke was, "Ah, beautiful Worcester!"

That is hilarious! I checked out the site - I've never heard of the two hosts either, but at least they look like they're having a good time! I'm thinking a special NE Mamas "Worcester Love" viewing at your house!! haha. :)
