Seriously, how do these women do it? Twenty kids?? I get the shakes when I have more than one over for a playdate. Those women need gifts, pronto.

Well lookie there, it’s the holidays! The perfect time to let your favorite educator know how much you appreciate them. But with what? Cookies? Pssh. Please. These people help to expand your child's mind! The least you can do is expand your own past the typical pastry gift.
Etsy to the rescue!
There are many New England artisans and crafters on Etsy, so finding a suitable gift for your kid’s favorite preschool, elementary, or secondary education teacher is a snap, right?
Put down the flour! Let me help you find something. I love Etsy. Some may call it an addiction, I call it... an addiction. But one person’s time suck is another person’s boon. I’ve scoured Etsy to find some perfect gift ideas for the teachers in your life, gifts good enough to guarantee your child a good grade. Not that you would bribe a teacher or anything. That would be wrong...
Hey, look over there!
For the teacher who is just so adorable you want to put her in your pocket and take her home. Don’t try to pretend you don’t know one:
Whooo’s cute? You’re cute, that’s whooo. Seriously, how cute is this 2010 owl calendar? Too cute, that’s how cute. Really cute. Ridiculously cute. Also... cute. I probably should work on my synonyms before my kid gets to grade school.
(12" x 18" owl calendar, $15 - Jen Skelley, Eastern MA)
For the preschool teacher who wipes a lot of noses and looks fabulous doing it:
Anyone can stuff a handful of tissues in her pocket, but with these set of five stylish tissue pouches your kid’s favorite preschool or kindergarten teacher can wipe those stray boogers and do it with style.
(Set of 5 tissue pouches, $20 - Bags by Melanie, New Hampshire)
For the home-ec teacher who taught your kid to make the perfect bundt cake (they still have home-ec, right?):
These reversible coasters, paired with a beautiful mug and maybe a Dunkin’ Donuts gift certificate or a selection of teas, would make a really thoughtful gift, and they’re so pretty she won’t even remember you didn’t make them yourself. Maybe.
They would also make a great hostess gift for those holiday parties. Just sayin’.
(Reversible coasters, $16 - Love My Coasters, Maine. Many different styles and colors to choose from.)
What about Mr. Richards, the American history teacher with the serious travel bug?
No problem. He can jot down all his thoughts while he tours the historical battlefields of the world in this travel journal. And it has a vintage-style map of Boston! Wicked awesome!
(Boston Common travel journal, $30 - May Day Studio, Vermont)
Finally, the gift you know that special teacher in your child’s life will want to keep and show off forever (and because real fruit rots):
Get it? An apple? For the teacher?? Sure it’s a splurge, but this would make a great group gift and you’re pretty much guaranteed it won’t end up in a drawer two days after it was received. She’ll wear this for years to come and think of your kid. Hopefully, your kid is an angel.
(Sterling Silver apple pendant and necklace, $105 - Destiny's Creations, Connecticut)
I want that tissue thingy! Now I'm going to end up spending money. damn you. I love etsy too much.
and they totally have home ec, but it's called family and consumer sciences and my mother gets pissy if I call it homeec because she teachers FCS.

Work with your florist to make the choices and delivery logistics easier. If you do not know where arrangements have been made, ask your florist to help you find this information. Florists keep tabs on their local obituaries through the newspaper and will have this information when you may not.
